LAB OPERATIONS MANAGER
Overview:
Lead the development and execution of world-class laboratory operations infrastructure, driving scalable programs and ensuring compliance with industry standards. As a key member of the Safety Team, you will manage lab support functions, oversee asset management, and promote continuous improvement to support cutting-edge research and innovation.
Responsibilities:
Operational Excellence:
Work cross-functionally to build scalable operations infrastructure and programs that align with organizational goals.
Author and contribute to operational procedures, ensuring clarity, compliance, and efficiency.
Perform daily lab walk-throughs to identify and address issues, coordinating corrective actions to maintain optimal functionality.
Safety and Compliance:
Serve as a member of the Safety Team, ensuring adherence to all safety protocols and industry best practices.
Maintain compliance for regulated and qualified equipment, supporting lab certifications and audits.
Provide guidance on findings from monthly lab inspections, driving a culture of constant improvement.
Manage and update the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) database to ensure compliance and accessibility.
Asset Management and Maintenance:
Oversee lab asset management, equipment repair, and maintenance needs.
Review and manage service contracts to maintain equipment service schedules and optimize cost-effectiveness.
Coordinate with facilities management to ensure environmental compliance and proper lab conditions.
Lab Support Functions:
Manage key lab support functions, including:
Buffer preparation.
Autoclave and glass wash operations.
Consumables inventory and restocking.
Biological safety cabinets and fume hood maintenance.
Lab alarm response and management.
Power management and continuity planning.
Lab Environment Optimization:
Ensure labs are clean, organized, and maintained in accordance with industry best practices.
Optimize lab space utilization to meet the evolving needs of the organization.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Laboratory Operations). Advanced degree preferred.
Experience: 5+ years in laboratory operations or management, with a focus on compliance, safety, and asset management.
Proven ability to develop scalable programs and manage cross-functional projects.
In-depth knowledge of lab equipment, service schedules, and regulatory requirements.
Experience with safety protocols, equipment calibration, and industry best practices.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to operational improvements.
Familiarity with lab management software (e.g., LIMS) and safety management systems.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and functions.
