OBJECTIVE
Anchor Advisors supported a rigorous national site selection process to
identify the future home of Commonwealth Fusion Systems’ first
commercial fusion power plant. The team’s capital markets and
infrastructure advisory capabilities were critical in evaluating land
options, energy access, and long-term cost implications across multiple
southern U.S. sites.
CHALLENGE
The project required managing multiple regulatory regimes, incentive programs, and environmental variables. Anchor led the permitting and site due diligence coordination for build-readiness to ensure confidence in technical down selection. In tandem, our team worked closely with the economic development agencies, real estate investment groups, and CFS’s internal leadership to validate ROl and risk trade-offs across shortlisted regions.
OUTCOME
CFS selected a site in Virginia that met both engineering and investment
thresholds. Anchor’s early involvement not only accelerated the
process, but also ensured that real estate, capital access, and
infrastructure could scale with future development.
