OBJECTIVE
The goal of this project was to renovate 19,000 square feet of existing
mixed-use space into additional research laboratory space. The completed
renovations include HVAC, electrical and lighting upgrades, a new flooring
system and updated lab furniture. We converted a portion of the existing office
into additional lab space and upgraded MEP systems, installing fume hoods,
flooring and new casework to support Immunogen/AbbVie’s expanding
operations.
CHALLENGE
The existing facility was in full use and occupancy during construction.
Careful planning was undertaken with many critical systems to ensure
shutdowns were carefully coordinated with lab operations to minimize
downtime. Temporary barriers, dust mitigation and airflow balancing were
utilized to maintain use of adjacent facilities during construction.
OUTCOME
Despite evolving requirements, and the acquisition of ImmunoGen by AbbVie
during the project, Anchor Advisors and the project team of Margulies
Perruzzi, Vanderwiel Engineers and Timberline Construction completed the
project on time and under budget.
